i'm guessing the DS spin machine throws the name of Rooney into the mix early doors.

Re: Can we have a summer transfer thread yet?
I'll take that as a no then!

I think it would be good to see all the early 'please renew your season ticket' bullshit on there.

Every player we're linked with is a lie put out there by the owners just to sell season tickets.

Where is the pace in that team ?

We need better, more mobile centre midfielders

Re: Can we have a summer transfer thread yet?
Why do people keep on about Batshauyi he has done nothing, actually he ain't been used very much,he looks that he ain't going to be any good in the premier,so move on especially the price they would want.

If Man City get that kiddie from Monaco I can't see them keeping Jesus, aguero and iheanacho. I'd love us to go in for iheanacho - he's quality

Re: Can we have a summer transfer thread yet?
They are not going to pay 20 million for Joe Hart plus 100k+ p/w wages for 4-5 years for a 30 year old goalkeeper for an outlay of c. 50 million with no resale value.

To form a team of 11 players, let alone a squad of about 20, on this basis, would require an investment of over 500 million pounds. They're only worth about 1bn.

You would have to be making the investment as one of the richest teams in the world, or be a philanthropic MULTI-billionaire for that to make any sense.

Still, easy and good fun to say "let's sign Joe Hart" on a message board.

Re: Can we have a summer transfer thread yet? *Official Summer transfer rumour thread*
Here are some key words we can expect:

Free transfer, loan with an option to buy, loan deal, bargain bin, marquee signing, we have 150 knicker shops not 150 oil wells, value for money, 50p in every pound, world class stadium, we only paid 10m for payet, his stats looked really good, world class player, jack sullivan tweet, the boleyn insider, the player chose everton over west ham

Usually followed by yet another shit season of football

Loans with option to buy is to me isvery sensible me thinks.

Re: Can we have a summer transfer thread yet? *Official Summer transfer rumour thread*
Cornish

Loan with an option to buy is a tactic of owners who dont know what they are doing. Only loan with an option to buy that seemed to work out is lanzini. Otherwise we have lost atleast 20m in loan fees for players like zaza, calleri, tore, moses etc. and nothing out of it. Despite the argument of how much we have saved by not buying outright, a transfer strategy that identifies quality players without loan deals is usually implemented by high performing clubs. Pay the money to get good scouts and a decent manager and we are half way there to becoming a better club
